Vipers SC demolish Pajule Lions to cruise into Uganda Cup R16

Defending champions Vipers SC delivered a ruthless performance on Tuesday night, sweeping aside Pajule Lions FC 6–0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende to book their place in the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The Venoms needed just six minutes to break the deadlock, with Karim Watambala latching onto a perfectly weighted long ball from Rogers Torach before finishing clinically to make it 1–0.

Vipers were firmly in control and doubled their advantage in the 21st minute when Usama Arafat Kiza converted from close range after a neat assist by skipper Milton Karisa.

Pajule Lions were pinned back, and the pressure told again on 33 minutes.

Nicholas Wadada’s dangerous cross crashed off the crossbar, but Watambala reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and complete his brace for a commanding 3–0 lead.

The first-half rout was capped off in spectacular fashion right on the stroke of halftime, as Karisa curled a sublime free-kick beyond the helpless goalkeeper to send Vipers into the break four goals to the good.

The Venoms made changes at the interval to keep things fresh, but the tempo never dropped. Seven minutes into the second half, Karisa struck again, this time calmly guiding a right-footed effort into the bottom corner to make it 5–0.

Further substitutions followed as Vipers continued to dominate possession and territory, and the sixth goal arrived three minutes from time.

Wadada once again turned provider, delivering a pinpoint cross that substitute Gusto Mulongo met emphatically, pouncing to fire past the goalkeeper and seal a comprehensive 6–0 victory.

The emphatic win sees Vipers safely through to the Round of 16, where they join KCCA FC and Kitara FC, who earlier knocked out Mbarara City FC and Entebbe UPPC respectively.

A statement performance from the holders and a clear warning to the rest of the field that the Venoms are very much in the hunt to defend their crown.
