Pyramids secured an important 3-1 away victory over Ghazl El Mahalla SC at El Mahalla Stadium on Tuesday, in Round 19 of the Egyptian League.
Pyramids opened the scoring through Nasser Maher, who finished off a precise cross from Hamed Hamdan on the left flank. Maher met the delivery with a first-time strike that found the back of the net, handing the visitors an advantage.
Ghazl El Mahalla responded through Williams Sunday. After a header inside the box, the ball fell kindly into his path, Sunday controlled the ball and slotted it home to bring the hosts level.
However, the visitors regained control before halftime. Mohannad Lasheen sent a through pass towards Mostafa Fathi who drove forward and fired a shot past the goalkeeper to restore his side’s lead.
Fiston Mayele sealed the win during the second half. The Congolese forward went one on one with the goalkeeper and finished it well, capping off a good attacking display from the visitors.
With this result, Pyramids move up to 37 points, joining Zamalek at the top of the league table as the title race continues. Meanwhile, Ghazl El Mahalla are 14th with 18 points.
