Dutch top flight side PSV Eindhoven are showing keen interest in Morocco defender Zakari El Ouahdi to bolster their backline.
The Farmers are currently taking major steps towards the summer transfer market, which promises to be busy again and one of the positions the Eindhoven club is currently exploring is the right-back position.
Technical director Earnest Stewart was in the stands last weekend at a match in the Belgian top division to watch El Ouahdi who played for Genk against Standard Liège.
The 24-year-old, who has a transfer value of around fifteen million euros has attracted interest from numerous clubs, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.
PSV’s interest in El Ouahdi stems from the possibility of American full-back Sergiño Dest’s exit in the summer transfer and the Red and Whites are viewing the former Morocco U-23 star as his successor.
PSV have not yet made any concrete moves towards Genk even though in recent years, the defender has become a mainstay at the Belgian club after joining them from RWDM in the summer of 2023.
His contract with Genk runs until July 1, 2028 with Genk likely to cash in on the young player.
PSV faces considerable competition for El Ouahdi, as top French clubs including Olympique Lyon and Marseille are equally showing interest in El Ouahdi who is capped once by the senior team of Morocco.
