The heavyweights of South African football have flexed their muscles once again, with Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs all represented in the latest Betway Premiership Monthly Awards.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed on Wednesday that Miguel Cardoso, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Glody Lilepo have scooped the top honours for the Januaryโ€“February period, following a rigorous selection process by an independent panel of experts.

Cardosoโ€™s Perfect Record

Mamelodi Sundownsโ€™ tactical mastermind, Miguel Cardoso, was the undisputed choice for Coach of the Month. The Portuguese strategist guided the Brazilians to a flawless record of four wins from four matches.

The crown jewel of his tenure during this period was a massive away victory over title rivals Orlando Pirates in Februaryโ€”a result that has placed Masandawana in the driving seat for an unprecedented ninth successive league title. Cardoso beat out stiff competition from Piratesโ€™ Abdeslam Ouaddou and a resurgent Gavin Hunt at Stellenbosch FC.

Mofokeng: The Heartbeat of the Buccaneers

While Pirates may have slipped against Sundowns, their teenage sensation, Relebohile Mofokeng, has been untouchable. Named Player of the Month, Mofokeng has become the creative engine of the Sea Robbers’ attack since returning to the starting line-up.

His numbers tell the story of a player in peak form:

Six goal involvements (three goals and three assists) across six matches.

Three consecutive Man of the Match awards, proving his consistency in high-pressure fixtures.

Lilepo Provides Amakhosi Silver Lining

It hasn’t been the easiest start to 2026 for Kaizer Chiefs, but Glody Lilepo gave the Amakhosi faithful something to cheer about. His stunning long-range “wonder-strike” against Marumo Gallants at the Dr Molemela Stadium in January was voted Goal of the Month.

The strike served as a reminder of the individual quality within the Naturena ranks, even as the team navigates a difficult patch of form.
