Al Hilal Omdurman SC coach Laurentiu Reghecampf has landed himself in trouble with the Rwanda Premier League (RPL) after breaching one of the regulations.
The Sudanese giants are temporarily operating from Rwanda due to the war back home. In the latest incident, RPL has slapped Reghecampf with an unspecified fine for shunning a post-match press conference following the 3-1 loss to Mukura VS on Saturday.

The holders bounced back on Tuesday to register an emphatic 5-0 victory over Gicumbi at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
In a statement, the league governing body confirms the punishment of the league leaders’ handler alongside his Police FC counterpart Ben Moussa El Kebir Abdessattar.
“Rwanda Premier League informs football fans and stakeholders that, in accordance with the RPL competition regulations Article 25 paragraph 4, it has imposed fines on two coaches for failing to attend the post-match press conference,” reads part of the statement.
“These are coach Laurentiu Aureelian Reghecampf of Al Hilal SC and Ben Moussa El Kebir Abdessattar of Police FC. We remind coaches and players that the media is an important partner of the RPL, therefore, attending a press conference after every match is a responsibility of every coach and player regardless of the match results.”
That the Romanian has found himself in hot soup in the East African nation comes as no surprise considering that he has of late been critical of the administration of the league.
In his most recent outburst, the 50-year-old coach pulled no punches in condemning the league governing body for being indifferent to the team’s request to have its games played at night.
The coach made the request considering that most of Al Hilal players are fasting in observance of Muslim holy month of Ramadan, hence too weak to play during the day. However, RPL stood its ground saying it was impossible rescheduling the fixtures due to limited match venues in Rwanda.
Following their latest victory on Tuesday in a match that was played at night as per Reghecampf’s wish, Al Hilal lead the log table, three points ahead of second-placed APR FC.
