Young Africans (Yanga) had no issues against NBC Premier League big spenders Singida Black Stars with efficient finishing leading the reigning Tanzanian club champions to a 3-0 victory on Thursday.

It was 2-0 by halftime for the defending champions courtesy of goals from Prince Dube and Allan Okello before Mudathir Yahya finished off the scoring early in the second half. The Citizens continue to look more than worthy of a fifth consecutive league crown and now hold a five-point lead.
After looking slightly more dangerous in the opening half hour, a late first half surge put the Dar es Salaam giants beyond reach. In the 39th minute, Yahya’s pass from midfield sent Maxi Nzengeli to the end line on the left wing and the pacey Congolese winger crossed low for Dube to produce a clever finish inside the far post.
At the end of the half, Dube attempted to get onto a lofted pass over the top of the Singida defense and was pushed over for a penalty kick. Okello fired his spot kick just beyond the reach of a diving Metachi Mnata in goal.

A distraught Singida team struggled to rally themselves and by the time they began to perform better, it was too late. In the 55th minute, the defense was completely missing in action when Yahya arrived to finish from a rebound after Mnata saved an initial effort from distance.
In another match played simultaneously, Azam FC struggled to trouble Tanzania Prisons and were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw. Florent Ibengé’s side has now drawn their last two matches and are now eight points behind Yanga.
Simba SC are also eight points behind the leaders with a game in hand. The Reds are next in action on Saturday when they face second tier club B19 FC in the Federation Cup.
