Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini took time to address the situation of Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat, who is currently recovering from surgery.
In a press conference before the match against Getafe CF, the Chilean manager indicated that the Moroccan midfielder’s return before the March international break might be premature.

“Amrabat is currently continuing his individual recovery program. It’s possible that it’s still a bit too soon for him to play again before the international break,” explained Pellegrini.
The Betis coach did, however, leave the door open for a positive development, specifying that the date of his return will depend on the progress of his rehabilitation.
“We’ll see based on his progress and his commitment in training,” he added.
Sofyan Amrabat recently underwent successful surgery in Amsterdam, Netherlands, after returning from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with the Atlas Lions.
The Betis medical staff are now closely monitoring his rehabilitation to ensure he returns to the pitch in the best possible condition.
The 29-year-old played three matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as Morocco lost the finals 1-0 to Senegal at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in January.
He has 73 caps for Morocco and previously played club football for Utrecht, Feyenoord, Club Brugge, Hellas Verona, Fiorentina, Manchester United and Fenerbahce. He is on loan at La Liga side Real Betis from Fenerbahce.
