Supporters in Zimbabwe are now having to dig digger in their pockets to watch elite football matches this 2026-2027 season. The fans are paying more following the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League’s decision to hike gate entry fees with immediate effect.
In a statement, the league’s spokesperson Kudzai Bare said the revision of the game charges for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches was necessitated by rising cost of goods in the Southern African country.
“The Premier Soccer League would like to advise all stakeholders that following an Emergency Committee meeting held on 5 March 2026, a resolution was made to review the minimum gate charges for the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season,” reads the statement.
“The increase has been necessitated by the rising cost of matchday services, statutory levies and tax obligations that clubs are required to meet in staging of PSL matches.
“The PSL remains committed to striking a balance between ensuring that clubs are able to meet the operational costs associated with hosting matches while maintaining reasonable access for fans, who remain a vital part of the game.”
Following the revision of the game charges, an entry ticket for the open terraces is now costing $5, $15 for the VIP and $25 for the VVIP.
Elsewhere, an entry ticket in open terraces in Malawi costs around $4 and around $2 in South Africa’s PSL matches. The Castle Lager PSL season kicked off officially on Friday.
