UPL: SC Villa, Kitara FC face crucial away tests as matchday 20 unfolds

The race for the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League title intensifies on Tuesday as several sides return to action on Matchday 20, with title hopefuls SC Villa and Kitara FC both tasked with difficult away fixtures.

Villa travel to the Police FC at the Kiira Road Police Arena in Kamwokya knowing only a victory will keep them firmly in the title conversation.

The Jogoos sit third on the table with 38 points and will be eager to bounce back after being frustrated by Express FC in a goalless draw during their last outing.
Police head into the encounter nursing wounds from a narrow 2–1 defeat to KCCA FC, and they will be determined to respond strongly in front of their home fans. Villa, however, carry confidence from the reverse meeting where they secured a 2–1 victory at FUFA Stadium in Kadiba and will be targeting a season double over the Cops.
Meanwhile, second-placed Kitara will be away in Kamwenge to face Mbarara City FC at Rwamanja Stadium. With 40 points on the board, Kitara understand that maximum points could significantly tighten the title race by cutting the gap to leaders Vipers SC to just one point.

Mbarara City, however, are battling near the bottom of the table and will treat the clash as a must-win encounter after suffering a 2–1 defeat against reigning champions Vipers in their previous match. A positive result could boost their survival hopes.
Under the floodlights in Lugogo, NEC FC host stubborn Entebbe UPPC at MTN Omondi Stadium. NEC will be aiming to extend their impressive unbeaten run in the league to ten matches while also seeking revenge for the 1–0 loss suffered in the first-round encounter at Bugonga.
Elsewhere, Calvary FC entertain Maroons FC at Midigo Primary School Grounds in Yumbe as the hosts search for their maiden victory of the campaign.
In Butema, BUL FC make the trip to face newcomers Buhimba United Saints FC at Royal Park.
