Goals from Arafat Usama Kiza and Abdul Karim Watambala ensured the Venoms secured their 14th win of the campaign in 20 matches, extending their advantage at the summit to four points ahead of second-placed Kitara FC.
Despite the defeat, the hosts showed resilience and managed to pull level late in the match through promising midfielder Enrique Lubwama, who struck the equalizer with just ten minutes left on the clock to briefly ignite hopes of a comeback.
The visitors had started the contest brightly and threatened early on. In the third minute, winger Chukwuma swung in a dangerous cross from the left flank, but UPDF defender Da Silva reacted quickly to head the ball clear and avert early danger.
UPDF also had moments going forward. Lubwama produced a clever run that saw him glide past left-back Enock Luyima, but the youngster rushed his delivery and failed to pick out a teammate inside the area.
Moments later, in the 13th minute, Emmanuel Ochen attempted to create an opportunity with a cross into the Vipers box, but the delivery sailed too high for the intended target.
The defeat leaves UPDF deep in relegation trouble, with the army side now sitting on just 13 points after suffering their 13th loss of the season. With the campaign approaching its decisive stages, they face a difficult battle to avoid the drop.
Meanwhile, Vipers continue to march strongly toward their title ambitions, with the crucial away victory in Bombo further solidifying their position at the top of the standings.
