Zamalek SC captain Omar Gaber has disclosed factors they are wary of going into Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) quarterfinal, first leg meeting with AS Otohô in the Congo Brazzaville.
The Congo Premier League side will host the Egyptian Premier League giants at the Alphonse Masamba Stadium in Brazzaville.
Gaber highlighted AS Otohô’s recent unbeaten home record, playing in Muslim holy month of Ramadan and hot weather conditions as factors that disadvantages Zamalek SC.

“The Zamalek captain added that the match will be held in Ramadan amid fasting, and on an artificial pitch, which makes the conditions of the match more difficult, in addition to the weather being different from usual in Cairo,” Zamalek website quoted the midfielder as having said.
Gaber has since urged his team-mates to step a gear and execute coach Motamed Gamal’s game-plan to perfection.
“Zamalek’s goal is to achieve a positive result against AS Otohô,” he added.
The right-back-cum midfielder added that much as they respect the hosts’ solid home record, the two-time Confederation Cup kings fancy their chances of coming back from Congo with maximum points.
Ahead of the match, Gamal addressed his charges on Friday to explain to them the approach to the game while also highlighting AS Otohô’s strengths and weaknesses.
The coach also assigned each player a specific role while stressing the need to stick to the technical instructions.
The Cairo giants will host their Congolese counterparts in the quarter-final return leg on Friday.
