Former Senegal youth international Mamadou Moustapha Mbow says he is biding his time for a senior national team call up.
The 26-year-old centre-back has been in fantastic form for Ligue 1 club Paris FC where he has gathered 24 appearances in the current campaign.
Mbow, who played for Senegal at the U-20 level, talked about his dream of playing at major tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations for the Teranga Lions.
“Like every Senegalese footballer, it’s naturally a goal to compete in this great competition that is the CAN and to win it.
“But I’ve turned that into motivation because those who were selected fully deserve it. I’ve respected the coach’s decision and kept myself ready and at his disposal as a reserve player,” he told Dsports.
Mbow represented the Senegal U20s at the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations where they reached the finals but lost 3-2 on penalty shootouts to Mali after the entire game ended 1-1.
His great performance has helped Paris FC into 13th on the league table on 27 points, ten points above the relegation zone.
