Mulindwa’s mega bonus sparks Vipers’ UPL title drive

Vipers SC president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa has upped the ante in the title race, pledging a massive UGX 300 million ($80,000 USD) bonus to his squad should they clinch the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League crown.

The announcement underscores the club’s relentless ambition to maintain its status among Uganda’s elite, with Mulindwa once again putting his financial muscle behind the team’s pursuit of silverware.

This pledge is significantly higher than the official prize money awarded to league champions, which currently stands at UGX 60 million ($15,910). This stark contrast highlights the president’s commitment to driving excellence beyond standard incentives.

The players have already had a taste of this generosity earlier in the campaign. After finishing top of the table at the halfway mark of the season, the squad was rewarded with a UGX 50 million bonus ($13,500), a move that further reinforced belief within the dressing room.

Mulindwa’s approach is not new. Last season, following a successful title-winning campaign, the team walked away with a UGX 200 million ($53,034) reward, setting a precedent for performance-based incentives at the Kitende-based side.

Such financial backing has often been credited as a key factor behind Vipers SC’s consistency and competitiveness in domestic football.

Beyond motivation, it creates a winning culture where success is tangibly rewarded.

As the season enters its decisive stages, the promise of an even bigger payday could serve as the extra push the players need to outpace their rivals and bring yet another league trophy back to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

With the stakes now higher than ever, all eyes will be on Vipers SC to see whether they can rise to the challenge and turn promise into glory.
