Esperance president: “We must play like the 2nd half” ahead of Al Ahly clash

Al Ahly will host Esperance Sportive de Tunis on Saturday at 9:00 PM at Cairo International Stadium in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

Espérance secured a 1–0 win over Al Ahly in the first leg last Sunday at Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades, giving the Tunisian side a slight advantage heading into the return leg.

Espérance president Hamdy Maddab made brief remarks to Tunisian media while at Tunis–Carthage International Airport on Thursday, as the team prepared to travel for the decisive clash.

According to Mosaique FM, Maddab said: “Hopefully we play like we did in the second half of the first leg… this is the Espérance we love.”

What Esperance need to qualify?

The equation is clear ahead of the Cairo showdown: Espérance need a win or a draw to advance to the semi-finals, while Al Ahly must win by at least two goals to secure qualification.
