Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has been ruled out of Liverpool’s trip to face Brighton & Hove Albion in a Premier League fixture on Saturday.
The Reds manager Arne Slot confirmed the Pharaoh captain will not be in the matchday squad due to a muscle injury. Salah was forced off at Anfield during the second half of Wednesday night’s Champions League victory over Galatasaray.

During the game, Salah missed a penalty before he scored to help Liverpool secure a 4-0 win to qualify for the quarterfinals on a 4-1aggregate result.
Speaking about Salah’s condition in a pre-match press conference at the AXA Training Centre on Friday, Slot said as quoted by Liverpool website: “Indeed, [it’s] unusual. As a result of that I think you can expect the outcome. So, [he’s] not available for tomorrow (Saturday).”
Asked about how long he could be sidelined for, the head coach added: “The good thing for Liverpool and for us is that we go to an international break. The bad thing for Egypt is that he can’t go there.”
Slot added: “We are hoping also with what Mo has shown in the past that he can recover faster than other players might in similar situations because he takes such good care of his body.
“History has shown he can be earlier back than some others. But it’s only two weeks when we go again so let’s hope in that period of time he can be back.”
His half-century strike against Galatasaray saw him make history, as he became the first African player to score 50 goals in Europe’s premier competition.
Already the leading African goalscorer in the competition, he has now moved six goals clear of Didier Drogba in second place.
The Chelsea and Ivory Coast great scored 44 goals in 92 games in Europe, ahead of Samuel Eto’o, who fired in 30 goals across spells at Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea.
Salah moved even further ahead of former strike partner Sadio Mane, with the Senegalese bagging 27 times in the Champions League, 24 of which came for Liverpool.
