Ouaddou slams doubters and distinguishes between true fans and boo-boys

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has issued a defiant message to the club’s critics, insisting that a ruthless 6-0 demolition of TS Galaxy proves his squad’s unwavering commitment to the Betway Premiership title race.

The Buccaneers reclaimed the summit of the table on Sunday, moving to 51 points—one ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, who still hold a game in hand. The emphatic victory in Mbombela was headlined by a sensational hat-trick from Relebohile Mofokeng, but for Ouaddou, the result was about more than just three points; it was a rebuttal to the “doubters.”

A “Fantastic Answer” to Critics, Says Pirates Coach Ouaddou

Speaking after the final whistle, the Moroccan tactician did not hold back when addressing recent questions regarding his team’s hunger.

“It’s a very good answer for people who have a doubt about the commitment of the boys,” Ouaddou stated. “I always say that there is nobody in our team that comes onto the pitch willing to lose or draw. Some people have to understand that all these players are sweating for the shirt.”

The “Booing” Debate

In a candid moment, Ouaddou drew a sharp line between “true supporters” and those who turn on the team during difficult moments. He credited the vocal travelling support in Mbombela for the team’s clinical display, while subtly criticising the atmosphere at other venues.

“We scored six goals today because we have fantastic support from the true fans. Every time we come to this city or go to Durban, the players feel that support. Unfortunately, when you miss a ball or draw, people start to boo. These are not true supporters. You can see that when people support the players well, they give everything.”

Fighting to the Final Whistle

With the title race reaching a fever pitch, the victory sends a clear warning to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Despite the heavy schedule, Ouaddou maintains that his side is physically and mentally ready for the final sprint.

“We sent a strong message today that we are not tired. We are going to fight until the last second,” the Pirates mentor concluded.
