Senegal winger Alassane Ndao who was imprisoned in Turkey over betting scandal, has been released after his first hearing, according to reports in Turkey.
The former Konyaspor player had his contract terminated by the Turkish outfit over the issue but has now been released on March 24, 2026, during his first hearing in the investigation into illegal betting and match-fixing in Turkish football.
Arrested in December 2025, the Senegalese forward was placed in pretrial detention on December 5, before his official arrest on December 8.
He was accused of participating in betting on matches involving his own club, an offense punishable by up to 13 years in prison under Turkish law.
The indictment states, in particular, that he allegedly bet on the Beşiktaş–Konyaspor match of October 20, 2024, which Beşiktaş won 2-0.
During the investigation, he denied any direct involvement, claiming that a betting account had been opened in his name and that the disputed bets had been placed by third parties without his knowledge.
The Istanbul court ordered his release and set the next hearing for June 10, 2026, allowing him to remain free pending the verdict.
Suspended for twelve months by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in November 2025, the player remains embroiled in a complex legal process that could still affect his sporting future.
Ndao, 29, made 11 appearances with two goals and three assists for Konyaspor prior to his ban.
The three time capped Senegal winger previously played for Sacre Coeur in Senegal, Fatih Karagumruk and Istanbulspor of Turkey before a stint at Saudi Arabia side Al Ahli.
