MC Alger avenged a cup defeat to CR Belouizdad on Wednesday while increasing their advantage at the top of Algeria’s Ligue 1 Mobilis with a 1-0 victory.
CRB goalkeeper Farid Chaal spilled a volley attempt on his goal and Zakaria Naidji arrived to finish from the rebound for the only goal of the match in the 3rd minute. The victory comes after CRB eliminated the reigning league champions from the Algerian Cup with a dramatic 3-2 result after extra time at the beginning of the month.
But when it comes to league action, MCA continue to dominate. They have now won four matches in a row and hold a dominant nine-point lead at the top of the table.

CRB remain in 7th position and are struggling with being involved in three different competitions. Les Rouges will have the Algerian Cup semifinals against CS Constantine on April 7 before beginning their CAF Confederation Cup against Egypt’s Zamalek SC with the first leg three days later (April 10) in Algiers.
In Wednesday’s late match, JS Kabylie came out on top 1-0 over USM Alger in a battle between clubs who have failed to meet expectations this season.
Veteran defender Mohamed Madani headed in the only goal of the match in the 11th minute from a free kick,
Like last season, USMA’s hopes of qualifying for continental competition will likely rest on their performance in the cup. They will face second tier club CA Batna in the semifinals on April 7, where a victory would set up a likely date with CR Belouizdad. USMA have only won one of their last seven league matches.
JSK overtake Wednesday’s opponents to seize 8th place on the league table. All efforts will be made to push for a top-3 finish in the league following their elimination in the CAF Champions League group stage as well as being the victims of a cup upset by second division club USM Harrach.
