Lesotho FA, Siwelele FC discuss areas of collaboration

The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has explored areas of possible collaboration with South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Siwelele FC.

Under the proposed arrangement, Lesotho will open its doors for the Betway Premiership team to be holding its pre-season camp training in the neighbouring country.

According to the association’s update, the two parties have since opened negotiations to establish how they can work together.

To kickstart the talks, LeFA delegation visited Siwelele FC’s base of Bloemfontein on Sunday on the sidelines of its Lesotho national team warm up match against another PSL team Orbit College FC.

Siwelele FC Chairman Calvin Le John and Public Relations Manager Moabi Mohono welcomed the delegation from Lesotho.

“With the rich history between the two entities, the meeting discussed possibly areas of collaboration such as hosting the club in the country during pre-season, exchange programs and many more,” reads the statement.

Who formed part of Lesotho FA delegation?

LeFA Communication and Stakeholders Manager Mikia Kalati, national team coordinator Mahlake Phulane and Likuena coach Bob Mafoso led the Lesotho delegation.

The Lesotho delegation is in South Africa ahead of Likuena’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round first leg match against Seychelles at Toyota Stadium on Thursday.

Coached by Lesotho football legend, Lehlohonolo Seema, Siwelele FC emerged on the PSL scene after buying the Betway Premiership status of SuperSport United last season.
