Nigeria’s Super Eagles kicked off their March FIFA window with a 2-1 friendly victory over Iran on Friday in Antalya, Türkiye.
Nigeria began the four nation mini-tournament against Iran at the Mardan Sports Complex, where an early sixth-minute goal from Moses Simon saw Éric Chelle’s side take the lead. The three-time African champions remained in control to end the first half in front.
Following the resumption of the second half, Nigeria extended their lead when Ademola Lookman set up Akor Adams for their second of the day. Iran showed their fighting spirit as Mehdi Taremi found the net in the 71st minute, but it wasn’t enough to spark a full comeback.

This victory sees Super Eagles secure three points in the opening fixture and move to the top of the invitational standings pending the result of Friday’s later match between Jordan and Costa Rica.
Eric Chelle’s side will look to carry this momentum into their next match against Jordan on Tuesday, March 31st, to potentially secure the tournament trophy.
