UNAF U-17 AFCON Q: Morocco beat Algeria, Egypt wins first game

The Morocco U-17 national team secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Algeria U-17 national team on Friday at Benghazi International Stadium, in the second round of the UNAF U-17 tournament qualifiers for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2026.

Morocco took the lead early in the 12th minute through an own goal by Algerian defender Noubali. The Atlas Lions continued their attack and doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute through Rami Lokmani.

In stoppage time, specifically the 90+2 minute, Adam Boughizi sealed the win with a third goal, confirming a second consecutive victory for Morocco in the tournament.

In another fixture, the Egypt U-17 national team recorded their first win in the tournament by defeating Tunisia U-17 national team 1-0. The only goal of the match came from Daniel Tamer, who converted a penalty. However, the same player missed another spot-kick later in the game, which was saved by Tunisia’s goalkeeper Daghrour.

The tournament is being held in Libya, featuring five teams: Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. The competition runs from March 27 to April 5, with the top three teams qualifying for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2026.

Morocco had already beaten Tunisia 2-0 in the opening round, while Algeria secured a big 5-1 win over Libya U-17 national team. Egypt had a bye in the first round.
