Wadi Degla secured qualification to the semi-finals of the Egyptian League Cup (Egypt Capital Cup) despite falling 2-1 to Tala’ea El Gaish in the second leg of their quarter-final clash.
The match, held at the Military Sports Authority Stadium, saw Tala’ea El Gaish claim victory on the night, but it was not enough to overturn the first-leg deficit, as Wadi Degla advanced with a 4-3 aggregate score.
Wadi Degla took the lead in the 36th minute through Omar Adly, who found the net with a header. Tala’ea El Gaish responded just before halftime, with Khaled Awad equalizing in stoppage time (45+4) with a header of his own.
The hosts continued to push forward and managed to grab a second goal in the 69th minute via Togolese forward Ismail Ougoro, giving them the advantage on the night and reigniting hopes of a comeback but the result remained the same until the final whistle.
Despite losing the second leg, Wadi Degla’s results across both matches proved decisive, as they booked their place in the semi-finals in their debut participation in the competition.
