Zimbabwe captain Marvelous Nakamba has issued a rallying cry to the Warriors, backing his side to clinch the inaugural Mukuru 4 Nations Tournament title in tomorrow’s highly anticipated final against Zambia.
The clash is set to receive a massive continental boost with a live broadcast reaching millions of homes across Africa, marking a significant milestone for the visibility of Southern African regional football.
The tournament—featuring Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and hosts Botswana—will be beamed live on SuperSport and GOtv platforms. This broadcast deal ensures that the final fixtures are accessible to fans from Cape Town to Lagos. The action kicks off with a third-place play-off between Malawi and Botswana at 3pm CAT, followed by the main event: the showdown between the Warriors and Chipolopolo at 6pm CAT.
Nakamba: ‘Building the Nation’s Pride’
Speaking from the team camp, the Sheffield Wednesday midfielder emphasized that the tournament is about more than just a trophy—it’s a vital engine for player growth. Nakamba stated that in every match, the team has tried to be competitive and give their best for the nation. He believes these tournaments are significantly helping each country and improving each player individually. He added that the squad continues to push and encourage one another in every training session as they look forward to the challenge of facing Zambia.
Zambia head coach Oswald Mutapa remains wary of Zimbabwe’s veteran presence but insists his side will not be intimidated. After a gritty performance against Malawi, Mutapa expects his squad to remain fearless.
He acknowledged that they expect a very tough game against a very experienced side but noted that his boys gave their all in the previous round. He expressed hope that they can maintain their structure in the final and, most importantly, be clinical enough to bury the game this time around.
Viewers in South Africa can catch the action on SuperSport PSL (Channel 202) and SuperSport Variety 4 (Channel 209). In Nigeria, the match will be available on Channel 207, while the broader African region can tune in via Channel 227. GOtv subscribers are also covered, with the broadcast available on Channel 63 generally, Channel 163 in Ghana, and Channel 363 in Uganda.
