Head coach of Kenyan outfit Gor Mahia Charles Akonnor has shed light on their chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

Akonnor, who was appointed in August last year, has revived the fortunes of one of the best football clubs in East and Central Africa.

Alongside his backroom staff that consists compatriots Bismark Kobby-Mensah and goalkeepers trainer Ben Owu, the former Ghana captain has propelled Gor Mahia to the top of the league table from 25 games.

With eight matches to end the Kenya Premier League season, Akonnor remains cautious of their chances of clinching a 22nd league title.

“We can make it anytime we are given the chance to play so [and] that is what it is.”

When asked about his backroom staff that consists of Ghanaian coaches, Bismark Kobby Mensah and keeper trainer Ben Owu, Akonnor hailed their impact at the club.
