RB Salzburg’s African stars rose to the occasion to help the visitors come back and secure a 2-1 victory at TSV Hartberg in the Austrian Bundesliga on Sunday.
Ivorian goal poacher Karim Konaté reacted incredibly to volley in the equalizer early in the second half for the visitors at the Stadion Hartberg. Two minutes later, Ghanaian midfield talent Edmund Baidoo set up Sota Kitano for the winning goal to stun the hosts.
It was a crucial victory to resuscitate Salzburg’s fading title hopes this season. Once again, it is a familiar sight in Austria’s top flight with the club looking up at Strum Graz who lead by four points in top spot. After winning ten consecutive titles, Salzburg have finished runners-up to their title rivals the last two seasons.

They will need Konaté to hit a rich vein of form. After a long-term injury kept him out for most of last season and the first half of the 2025-26 season, the former ASEC Mimosas star hit a rough patch after starting strong in 2026. He had failed to score in his last five matches before striking on Sunday.
Despite a five-match winless streak prior to the victory, RB Salzburg remain in contention with only four points separating them from Sturm Graz. However, they also must contend with Rapid Wien and LASK, who are level on points, and also Austria Wien who are only a point back.
Konaté has 6 goals in 15 matches across all competitions this season. Salzburg will next host LASK on Friday with seven matches remaining in the championship stage of the campaign.
