NPFL: Usman Abd’Allah reacts to Remo Stars slim win over Shooting Stars

Head coach of Remo Stars Usman Abd’Allah has reacted to their slim 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars during the Nigeria Premier Football League [NPFL] on Sunday.

The highly contested derby came up in Ikene where Samuel Anakwe’s 49th minute goal propelled Remo Stars to an important win.

Coach Usman Abd’Allah who replaced Daniel Ogunmodede, shared words on the epic encounter.

Remo Stars have not lost in four games

“The most important thing is the three points and we were able to get it,” he told the club’s media outlet.

“I didn’t really care about their roles [but] what will give us the three points was most important.

“I’ve already told the boys that it was going to be a tough game [and] the toughness of the game has been anticipated already.

“But even though we lost two good players who were not in but that’s football and I’m very happy with the players that will come in and give out their best.

“The most important thing is not about the players, it’s about the team and the target is the tree points and the three points are achieved.”

The win extended Remo Stars’ unbeaten run to four matches, including three victories and a draw, lifting them to 17th place in the league with 40 points.

Shooting Stars remain fifth with 50 points, missing an opportunity to close the gap on the top.

Remo Stars’ last defeat came in March 8 following a 4-1 loss at leaders Rangers International.

The result is a significant boost for Remo Stars as they continue their fight to avoid relegation in the NPFL this season.

The defending champions will next travel to 10th place Barau on Sunday, April 12 in a week 34 fixture.
