Ghana Premier League: Ibrahim Tanko calm despite Medeama struggles

Medeama’s quest to maintain their lead on top of the Ghana Premier League suffered a setback last weekend following a 1-1 draw at Bechem United in week 28.

The Mauve and Yellow were stung by Augustine Okrah’s 70th minute goal however Salim Adams pulled a late equalizer which was not enough to retain their lead.

Defending champions, GoldStars’ 2-1 victory against Nations FC at the Duns Park dropped Medeama into second on 50 points, one point behind GoldStars.

The head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, has lamented over his team’s stalemate against Bechem United, insisting that the result was not a true reflection of the contest.

Medeama need consistency to win league

“I think one point in Bechem, it’s not bad, but I don’t think it’s the reflection of the game, because when you look at the first half, we had enough chances to score, but we couldn’t.

“I think, as I said, we came with a very, very good game plan, and I think it worked for us.

“Normally, if you score one or two in the first half, the game will end differently.

“I think in the end, like you said, one point in Bechem is okay,” Tanko said after the game.

Medeama began the season on a good note but have faltered in their last encounters, recording two draws, two losses and one win in five matches.

Wirh seven games to end the current campaign, the two time FA Cup holders need to remain consistent to stand a chance of clinching a second top flight title.
