Super Falcons to face Cape Verde in double-header friendly

Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to face Cape Verde in a double-header international friendly during the April window at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

​The two matches are scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, and Saturday, April 18. This follows the recent outings for Coach Justine Madugu’s side, who faced the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in two friendlies during the last international break.

​WAFCON 2026 preparation

​These friendlies serve as vital preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The tournament is now scheduled to begin in July, following its postponement from March.

​Nigeria has been drawn into Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt, and fellow debutants Malawi. Meanwhile, Cape Verde will be making their maiden appearance in the biennial competition, having been drawn into Group D with Cameroon, Ghana, and Mali.

​The WAFCON 2026 finals will also serve as the official qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
