Will Victor Osmihen return to action for Galatasaray FC?

There are questions on whether Galatasaray FC will feature their striker Victor Osmihen in Wednesday’s Süper Lig (Trendyol Super League) match against Göztepe FC.

Ahead of the match at Gürsel Aksel Sports and Healthy Living Centre, the Nigerian has been heavily involved in training sessions for the Turkish giants. The former Napoli FC star suffered an arm injury on March 18.

Galatasaray FC, seeking to bounce back from the weekend’s 2-1 loss to Trabzonspor, have given an update on Osmihen’s training sessions.

Giving an update, the club did not indicate whether the Super Eagles striker will feature in Wednesday’s match.

How Osmihen is faring in training

“While Victor Osimhen was running on the field with a physiotherapist, Gabriel Sara started working with the team. Abdülkerim Bardakcı travelled to Izmir with the team despite being suspended,” reads the update.

Osimhen injured his arm during a Champions League Round of 16 match against Liverpool at Anfield in England on March 18.

The towering forward was withdrawn in the 46th minute for former Manchester City’s German winger Leroy Sane as Okan Buruk’s side went on to suffer a 4-0 humiliating defeat to the Premier League opponents.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations bronze winner eventually underwent surgery.

Meanwhile, the squad for the game against Göztepe has taken shape with Ivorian defender Wilfried Singo and Togolese star Mario Lemina selected.

Galatasaray lead log table

The table-topping side hopes to complete a double over Göztepe having beaten them 3-1 in the first-round courtesy of goals from Osimhen, Gabriel Sara and Mauro Icardi.

Overall, Göztepe and Galatasaray have faced each other 63 times in the Süper Lig so far.

Icardi is Buruk team’s leading league scorer so far with 13 goals, followed by Osimhen 12 goals, Sane and Barış Alper Yılmaz at six goals each.

With the season entering its critical phase, the leaders, who are four points clear of second- placed Fenerbahce FC, need all their best players.
