Morocco winger Zakaria Aboukhlal has been forced to undergo a surgery to correct a problematic knee injury that has sidelined him for several months.

Brilliant during his time at Ligue 1 club, Toulouse FC, the 26-year-old has struggled to regain his form since joining Serie A side Torino FC.

The right winger is going through a difficult period, largely hampered by recurring physical problems.

Sidelined since February 15th after a match against Bologna FC, the Atlas Lion was suffering from persistent knee discomfort.

Zakaria Aboukhlal has 21 Caps for Morocco

Despite several attempts at managing the injury, the situation did not improve with the Torino FC medical staff ultimately opting for surgery.

The former Netherlands youth international underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in Amsterdam, marking a turning point in his medical management.

The player has now begun his rehabilitation however there is no specific time frame for his return as it will depend on the progress of his recovery in the coming weeks.

Since arriving in Italy, Zakaria Aboukhlal has been plagued by setbacks, including muscle problems, thigh pain, and knee contusions.

These setbacks have hampered his progress and limited his impact on the squad.

This forced inconsistency is currently preventing him from achieving the consistency he had shown in France.

Aboukhlal, who has 21 caps and three goals for Morocco, made just 15 appearance prior to suffering the knee injury.
