The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Akeem Ishola Busari as Head Coach of the U-17 Girls’ National Team, the Flamingos.
Busari replaces Bankole Olowookere, who led the team for several years, including a notable third-place finish to secure bronze at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

Busari’s immediate task is to lead the Flamingos in the upcoming qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which Morocco will host.
The Flamingos are currently on standby to face the winner of the preliminary clash between Niger and Guinea. The first leg of that encounter is scheduled to take place away from home in the third week of next month.
The Flamingos’ new chief strategist also currently serves as the Head Coach of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side Pacesetter Queens Football Club of Ibadan.
