2024 CHAN: Bafana squad unveiled ahead of Egypt two-legged qualifier

Helman Mkhalele has announced the South Africa squad that will face Egypt over two legs in a first round 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.


Mkhalele, who is assistant to South African men’s senior national team mentor Hugo Broos, will coach the side that will represent South Africa in the CHAN qualifiers to be played this year and he will be assisted by U20 men’s coach Raymond Mdaka.



The Bafana Bafana CHAN side will host the Egyptians on Friday 28 February at Free State Stadium and then travel to North Africa for the return leg on 9 March 2025. The winner of this match will proceed to the second round of the CHAN qualifiers to be played in May 2025.


South Africa squad;


Goalkeepers: Samukelo Xulu, Jody February, Sphamandla Gumede.


Defenders: Aden McCarthy, Bilal Baloyi, Yandisa Mfolozi, Tylon Smith, Athenkosi Mcaba, Nduduzo Mhlongo, Terrence Mashego, Bongani Sam.


Midfielders: Sammy Seabi, Azola Tshobeni, Neo Maema, Yanga Madiba, Donay Jansen, Jamie Webber.


Forwards: Keletso Sifama, Tendamudzimu Matodzi, Thulani Mini, Kutlwano Letlhaku, Monnapule Saleng.
