2024 CHAN: Malawi coach Pasuwa names squad for Bafana Bafana clash

Malawi senior national football team’s coach, Kalisto Pasuwa, has named a 25-member squad for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying matches against South Africa next week.


Pasuwa released the Flames’ squad on Friday, April 25, 2025, ahead of the CHAN final qualifying round first leg match against Bafana Bafana.


The first leg match at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday, May 3, will be followed by the reverse fixture at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in South Africa on Sunday, May 11, 2025.


The squad has seen FCB Big Bullets dominate with nine players. Notable inclusion is Silver Strikers forward Binwell Katinji who scored three goals in two games when the Flames beat Comoros by a 2-0 margin at home and away in the first round of the qualifiers.


On the other hand, Bafana Bafana eliminated Egypt to reach the final qualifying round of the competition restricted to home-based players.


The overall winner between the Flames and Bafana Bafana will qualify for the CHAN finals scheduled for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in August 2025. The Flames are expected to regroup in Lilongwe on Monday April 28.
