Botswana coach Morena Ramorebol has emphasised the team's readiness and focus to take on Egypt in their final fixture of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Tuesday.

With the stakes high for the AFCON ticket, the coach expressed confidence in the players' hard work and commitment and further revealed their determination to secure a positive result and continue their journey towards Morocco.

“We are anticipating a tough match, we are playing against one of the best team in the continent one of the best and we are anticipating a very tough match but we are here for a reason, we want to see ourselves in the 2025 AFCON,” said Ramorebol ahead of the game at June Stadium in Cairo.

“And for us to do so we need to do our best against Egypt, we know it is not going to be an easy game playing against a top national team but we have done our part in terms of preparations and in terms of the analysis, so we are hoping and believing that we will do well.

“To be honest with you it is going to be a tough one but the most important thing about matches of this magnitude, you need to understand that you need to have a plan and you must follow your plan and after following your plan you must make sure that you are able to see and identify areas where opponents can easily hurt you, and need to tie and be on your toes to make sure you correct every mistake.

“It is where we say as much as you need tactics, you need to be strong mentally to be able to adjust to every challenge that they might throw at you. We need to give them the respect they deserve but we are here to win.”

The Zebras currently sits in second place with a two-point advantage over Cape Verde and Mauritania. Cape Verde and Mauritania, meanwhile, will battle each other for a potential last-minute leap into second place if Botswana slips.
