The technical department of the Ghana national team has been boosted with five new appointments ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Ghana Football Association [GFA] announced the latest appointment on Friday, February 5 following consultation with key stakeholders.
The FA’s statement asserts that the strategic additions are aimed at strengthening the team’s coaching staff ahead of the global football festival in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America in June.
Head coach Otto Addo will now work with French tactician Alain Ravera who brings rich experience from his previous work at AS Monaco as an assistant.
He is joined in the role by Black Queens Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren, who guided the Black Queens to a bronze medal finish at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as well as qualification for the upcoming 2026 WAFCON in Morocco.
The FA has also appointed Spanish national José Daniel Martínez Alfonso who currently serves as an assistant coach and video analyst with Major League Soccer side Atlanta United FC.
An old face Carlos Lozano Romero has made a return to the team as a Physiotherapist after his previous stint with the Black Stars during the 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar where Ghana exited at the Group Stage.
Completing the technical additions is British-born Ghanaian performance specialist Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, who has been appointed as Performance Coach.
