Abakaliki FC head coach Ifeanyi Onyadika says the team will intensify their efforts to prepare towards this year’s President Federation Cup final that is scheduled for 28 June at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
According to Onyadika, the executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwaefuru, is working tirelessly in making sure that the Abakaliki FC win the trophy. The club chairman, Senator Obinna Ogba, maintains that all logistics have been put in place toward the final.
Top division NPFL side Kwara United of Ilorin defeated defending champions Rangers international Football of Enugu by a lone goal to book the ticket to the final. Meanwhile, second tier Nigeria National League (NNL) club Abakaliki edged NPFL side Ikorodu City of Lagos 5-4 on penalties at the Bwari Township Stadium to reach the final stage.
It’s also reported that Nigeria national team head coach Eric Chelle will be in attendance for the final.
The Franco-Malian recently selected ten domestic-based players for the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London last month, which Nigeria won on penalties after defeating Jamaica in the final.
