Morocco international Abdessamad Ezzazouli has opened up on his high level performance for club Real Betis in the current season.
Ezzalzouli who is currently enjoying one of the best spells of his season in La Liga has been nominated for Player of the Month for February.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations silver medalist discussed his excellent form in an interview with Real Betis media.
“The team is firing on all cylinders. We’re playing very well, even though we had a poor start to the match against Atlético de Madrid.
“Once we were on their pitch, we quickly corrected our course and understood how to manage the game, their style, and what they were going to do.
“Winning at the Metropolitano isn’t something everyone can achieve. We have to aim for the Champions League. Why not dream big?” Ezzalzouli said.
The 24-year-old has played an important role in Real Betis two straight wins against Atletico Madrid and Real Mallorca where they won 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.
When asked about his statistics and his desire to compete in a healthy way with Antony in the race for goals, he offered an interesting reflection: “I look at my stats, my family does too, my agents as well, and I observe what my teammates are doing. When Antony scores, it makes me want to score too.” The level he’s playing at pushes me to be more decisive.
“Antony integrated immediately. Since he arrived, he’s been like a brother. I spend more time with Bakambu at the training ground, but my connection with Antony on the pitch is special. And I also understand Cucho very well once we’re in a match.”
The Elche CF Youth graduate has made 15 appearances, scoring five goals and providing five assists as Real Betis sit 5th on the La Liga with 41 points from 24 games.
Ezzalzouli played seven matches with one assist at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as Morocco lost 1-0 to Senegal in the finals at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in January.
The former Osasuna and Barcelona player has played 33 times for the Atlas Lions of Morocco, scoring two goals after rising through the U-20 and the U-23.
