Abdoulaye Fall is the new president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) after the elective general assembly earlier today in Diamniadio. Fall ends the long reign of Augustin Senghor.

Fall won in two rounds of voting after a landslide lead in the first round over four candidates. According to the FSF statute, a candidate must win over two-thirds of the votes to be declared the winner. AS Bambey chairman beat Mady Toure and Senghor after getting 302 votes in the first round. With Senghor getting 92 votes, he was out of the second round.

According to Wiw Sport, Fall beat Toure in the second round of the election after getting huge backing from Senghor’s camp. The outgoing president had led the FSF for the last 15 years and was hoping to extend his tenure.

The Senegal Football Federation is now going through structural, financial, and organizational setbacks, and the new president will be challenged to rectify them as soon as possible.
