Abdul Fatawu now has goals in back-to-back games after opening the scoring in Leicester City’s EFL Championship victory over Birmingham City on Friday.
The 21-year-old playmaker is looking to have a dominant season in England’s second tier after a knee injury cut short his 2024-25 campaign as Leicester were relegated from the Premier League. In the 8th minute, Fatawu received a pass on the right wing and cut inside to fire a finish into the top corner after getting the ball on his favorite left foot.
The Foxes put the match away late on when Ricardo Pereira doubled the advantage for the hosts, giving Leicester three wins and a defeat from four league matches.
Leicester are off to a decent start this season but have plenty of competition as they attempt to earn a quick return to the Premier League. If Fatawu can continue to return to form, it will be a good sign for his club. Fatawu previously starred as Leicester won promotion to the top flight during the 2023-24 season, his first in English football, with 6 goals and 13 assists in 40 league matches.
Leicester next go on the road to face Oxford United on September 13 after the international break.
