Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi has suffered a serious ankle injury, ruling him out of action for several weeks.
The French champions fell 2-1 to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
In an official statement, the club revealed:
“Achraf Hakimi sustained a significant injury to his left ankle and will be sidelined for several weeks.”
The statement also added that Ousmane Dembélé picked up an issue in his left calf and will continue his recovery in the coming weeks, while Nuno Mendes is also undergoing treatment for a left knee problem. Young midfielder Desire Doue continues his rehabilitation program as planned.
PSG confirmed that further updates on the players’ conditions will be provided after the upcoming international break.
Hakimi’s setback is a major blow for Paris Saint-Germain, as the Moroccan full-back is one of the team’s key performers. The injury also means he will miss the upcoming international fixtures in November with the Morocco national team.
