Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi will travel to Morocco to continue his physical rehabilitation as he races against time to be fit for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
Hakimi suffered a severe left-ankle sprain in early November, putting his participation in the tournament in doubt. According to RMC, the Moroccan full-back has been undergoing treatment at PSG in recent weeks but will now head to Morocco to continue his recovery program.
The report added that a member of PSG’s medical staff will accompany Hakimi to monitor his condition throughout the rehabilitation period. PSG’s intention behind this step is to ensure the player returns fully fit and ready to contribute immediately after AFCON.
Morocco will host the Africa Cup of Nations from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, and Hakimi is pushing to be included in Walid Regragui’s squad for the competition.
When the injury occurred against Bayern Munich, AS reported that Hakimi was expected to be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks, including two weeks of immobilizing the ankle before beginning the recovery phase. This timeline means Hakimi could potentially miss the group stage of AFCON if selected for the final squad.
