Ademola Lookman offered to Arsenal amidst transfer standoff

Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, who currently plays for Atalanta, has reportedly been offered to Arsenal as he seeks a move away from the Italian club.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, intermediaries have approached the Gunners to explore a potential deal for the 27-year-old.

Lookman is keen to leave Atalanta this summer and has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Inter Milan on a contract running until 2030, with a reported salary of €4 million per year plus bonuses. However, negotiations between the two Serie A clubs have stalled. Inter Milan has had several offers, including a recent bid of €45 million plus add-ons, rejected by Atalanta, who are holding out for their valuation of around €50 million.

This has led to a significant breakdown in the relationship between Lookman and his club. The Nigerian has reportedly submitted a transfer request, accusing Atalanta of breaking a “gentleman’s agreement” that would allow him to leave for a top club this summer. The standoff has escalated, with Lookman reportedly going on strike and refusing to train with the team.

It’s believed that Lookman was offered to Arsenal on behalf of Atalanta, as they are reportedly hesitant to sell him to a Serie A rival. Despite this, Lookman is reportedly still waiting to see if a move to Inter can be finalised this summer. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s primary attacking target remains Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

Lookman has one year left on his contract with the former Europa League winners.
