Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman's future at Italian club Atalanta BC appears to be in doubt with reports indicating that an exit is imminent for the Nigerian.

Lookman, who was left out of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Unity Cup friendly competition, has been linked with several clubs like Arsenal and Napoli and a potential transfer in the summer window. Atalanta's valuation of the player is put at around €60 million.

Recently there have been reports of tension between Lookman and manager Gian Piero Gasperini following Gasperini's public criticism over a penalty miss in the UEFA Champions League.

While a reconciliation seemed to occur, recent reports indicate that Lookman has submitted a formal transfer request to Atalanta, expressing a desire to return to the English Premier League.

A return to the Premier League is most likely for the reigning CAF Africa Player of the Year, who has previously featured for Everton, Leicester City and Fulham. On Sunday, the Nigerian will get a chance to say a proper goodbye to the Atalanta fans when they welcome Parma in a final match of the Serie A season.

His unforgettable hat-trick won Atalanta the UEFA Europa League last year and courtesy of his goals the club from Bergamo have been pushing above their weight at the top of Italian football.

They will finish third this campaign, which guarantees them another shot at UEFA Champions League glory and cash.

The current African player of the year has made 116 and scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists. Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig on August 4, 2022, for a fee reported to be around €10 million.
