Adidas TRIONDA officially launched as 2026 FIFA World Cup match ball

FIFA has officially launched the adidas TRIONDA, the Official Match Ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during a grand ceremony held on Friday, October 3, 2025.

The name TRIONDA, derived from Spanish meaning “three waves,” symbolizes unity, energy, and movement — perfectly capturing the spirit of the first-ever FIFA World Cup to be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

As excitement builds for the global showpiece, the launch of TRIONDA follows major announcements including the unveiling of the tournament’s official mascots and FIFA’s pledge to donate USD 1 per ticket sold to the Global Citizen Education Fund. Already, over 4.5 million fans from 216 countries have entered the Visa Presale Draw.

“The Official Match Ball for the FIFA World Cup 26 is here and it’s a beauty!” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “adidas have once again produced an iconic design that embodies the unity and passion of next year’s host nations. I can’t wait to see TRIONDA rolling on the world stage.”

A ball that carries African hopes

For Africa, TRIONDA represents not only innovation but also another chapter in the continent’s pursuit of World Cup glory. Nations like Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, South Africa are among those expected to represent Africa at the 2026 edition — all dreaming of writing history with this ball, just as Ghana, under the legendary Jabulani, came within a whisker of a semifinal in South Africa 2010.

Back then, the adidas Jabulani captured global attention with its bold design and unpredictable flight path — a symbol of Africa’s first World Cup.

TRIONDA, fifteen years later, builds on that legacy but promises greater aerodynamic precision and technological sophistication. Its four-panel structure and deep seams ensure enhanced in-flight stability, addressing the criticisms once directed at Jabulani’s trajectory.

Design inspired by unity and identity

The TRIONDA’s design radiates cultural symbolism. Its vibrant palette of red, green, and blue pays homage to the three host nations, while golden accents celebrate the FIFA World Cup Trophy. The panels form interlocking triangular patterns resembling waves — a nod to the “three waves” theme and the seamless connection between countries and continents.

National emblems — Canada’s maple leaf, Mexico’s eagle, and the United States’ star — adorn the surface, reinforcing the sense of unity at the heart of the event.

Cutting-edge technology meets global passion

Beyond aesthetics, TRIONDA showcases advanced performance features. The four-panel configuration boosts stability in motion, while embossed micro-icons improve grip and control even under challenging weather. The ball’s 500Hz motion sensor enables connected-ball technology, transmitting real-time data to the VAR system to assist with precision decisions such as offsides and goal-line calls.

Countdown to kickoff

The launch of TRIONDA marks another milestone toward the 23rd edition of football’s greatest spectacle, with the Final Draw set for December 5, 2025, in Washington D.C.

For African teams and fans, this ball is more than just a tool of the game — it is a symbol of renewed hope. From Johannesburg to Algiers, from Dakar to Cairo, millions await the moment when the TRIONDA rolls on North American soil — and perhaps, when Africa’s long-cherished dream of conquering the world finally comes true.
