Boulbina had been one of the most sought-after forwards in African club football following a superb season at Paradou. His 20 goals in 26 matches earned him the top scorer award in the top flight. Many expected him to join a European side but in a surprise move, he signed with Al Duhail.
He told Algerian national radio that his transfer to Al Duhail came after much deliberation and that the presence of former long-time Algeria national team coach Djamel Belmadi played a role. “My transfer to Al Duhail was made after difficult negotiations and deep reflection,” said Boulbina.
“I decided to join Al Duhail because it is a great team that always plays a leading role and wins titles. I will give my best under the guidance of Djamel Belmadi to bring something extra to the team and show everything I have. Al Duhail can be my gateway to Europe.”
Paradou received 5 million euros for Boulbina’s transfer.
