Moroccan international Amine Adli said he is proud of the U-17 national team for their triumph in the African U-17 Nations Cup on home soil. The Bayer Leverkusen star stated that he watched the Young Atlas Cubs win their first ever U-17 AFCON title after beating Mali 4-2 in a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw in the final.
Adli told Leverkusen media that he supported his country throughout the tournament: “I watched the games with excitement. I was very happy about the victory,” said the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.
Adli also praised center back Nassim El Massoudi for his role in Morocco’s title win. “I am very proud of Nassim and his teammates. They have made a whole country proud! I hope to see him here at the BayArena again soon. I wish him all the best for the future.”
The 17-year-old center back played in all matches for Nabil Baha’s side during the U-17 AFCON, helping the Atlas Cubs keep five clean sheets in six games. El Massoudi currently plays his club football for the Leverkusen U-17 side.
