Kenyan Premier League outfit AFC Leopards remained on course to end their FKF Premier League trophy drought after registering a 2-0 win against Murang’a Seal to move to within two points of leaders and rivals Gor Mahia on Sunday.
Gor Mahia had been presented with a great opportunity to move six points clear on Saturday, but they only managed a 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks.

Knowing a win would bring them close to K’Ogalo, Ingwe surged in the second half to down the visiting struggling side and they are now two points behind the record champions with seven games remaining to conclude the season.
Ronald Sichenje and substitute Hassan Beja stepped up for AFC Leopards as they found the back of the net in what was AFC Leopards’ 16th win of the season.
The first half looked a dull affair with no side looking to score. However, in the second half, Leopards started strongly and they were rewarded when Sichenje capitalised on a loose ball in the area to tap it home.
Murang’a Seal were handed a lifeline to level the scores at 1-1 after they were awarded a penalty. However, their talisman Joe Waithira stepped up to take the resultant kick and it was saved by Ingwe goalkeeper James Ssetuba.
The penalty miss left Seal struggling as AFC Leopards took control of the game and they doubled their lead in the 73rd minute when James Kinyanjui laid a neat pass to substitute Beja, who calmly slotted it home.
The win took AFC Leopards’ tally of points to 55, two fewer than Gor Mahia, who have amassed 57 points.
However, Gor Mahia still have a game in hand, which if they win could take their lead to five points clear.
In another match, Shabana FC’s title hopes went up in smoke after they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Nairobi United. In a game Tore Bobe needed to win to keep pace with the chasing lot, United looked by far the better side.
Duncan Omalla scored the opener for United, before Michael Karamor, and Mustafa Kizza’s goal from the half way line secured the important win for United.
The defeat left Shabana fifth with 43 points from 27 matches, while the win propelled United to seventh spot with 38 points from 26 matches.
