Kenyan Premier League outfit AFC Leopards continued to breath at the back of rivals Gor Mahia after they secured 2-1 victory over Posta Rangers in an FKF Premier League encounter staged at the Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Ingwe, who looked the better side from the onset, needed first half goals courtesy of Kayci Odhiambo and Kelly Madada to collect maximum points, and close in on record champions Gor Mahia at the summit.

The second goal arrived in the 25th minute. Samwel Semo was the provider, finding Kayci larking in the area, and the forward powered with a one-time effort. AFC Leopards went into the half-time break enjoying a 2-0 lead.

At the start of the second half, Posta Rangers made a triple change – Vincent Wasambo, Eliud Lokuwam and Karisa Ponda coming in for Elvis Osok, Ombima and Shem Odinga.

Posta’s game improved after the changes, and they were rewarded in the 68th minute when Ponda pulled a goal back. However, despite their efforts to get something from the game, AFC Leopards held on to register their 11th win of the season.

Ingwe have now collected 40 points from 20 matches, and they are sitting second on the 18-team Premier League table, three points less than Gor Mahia.
