AFC Leopards make it three wins out of three, Gor Mahia drop points

Kenyan Premier League outfit AFC Leopards registered their third straight win in the FKF Premier League after dispatching Mathare United 2-0 at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Ingwe under coach Fred Ambani went into the matchday six fixture having registered nine points from their last three matches. AFC started off the winning run with a 2-1 win against KCB, defeated Shabana away 2-1 before the 2-0 win against the ‘Slum Boys’.

After a 0-0 first half which produced less chances for either side, Ingwe exploded at the start of the second period. Their first goal arrived in the 48th minute when defender Vincent Mahiga finished off a neat cross from the left side.

James Kinyanjui sealed the emphatic win as Ingwe jumped to third on the 18-team league table with 12 points in six matches. They have managed three wins, three draws and they are yet to lose a game.

Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars share the spoils

Meanwhile, their rivals Gor Mahia dropped points after securing a 1-1 draw against visiting Ulinzi Stars at Kasarani Stadium. Gor Mahia went into the fixture having won their last four matches and were seeking a fifth in a row.

K’Ogalo had won 2-0 against Sofapaka, 1-0 against KCB, 3-0 against Posta Rangers, and 2-0 against Mathare United. However, against the Soldiers, who were under new coach Stephen Ocholla, they found the going tough.

Felix Oluch headed Gor Mahia into the lead from a corner but Harambee Stars forward Boniface Muchiri popped up with a cool finish to earn Ulinzi Stars their third draw this campaign. The draw saw Gor Mahia fail to topple Homeboyz at the summit.

Gor Mahia reached 13 points, one less than Homeboyz, who drew 1-1 against Tusker in their fixture at Bukhungu Stadium.
