AFC Leopards remain winless from two matches after Posta Rangers draw

AFC Leopards problems in the Kenyan Premier League continued after they twice surrendered the lead to draw 2-2 against Posta Rangers in a fixture at Dandora Stadium on Friday.

A late Eliud Lokwam strike denied Ingwe a great opportunity to grab maximum points from the contest against the Mailmen. Ingwe started strongly and should have scored the opener with only six minutes when Ronald Sichenje’s curled free-kick from outside the area went inches wide.

However, Ingwe’s pressure finally paid off in the 23rd minute when Kelly Madada scored a contender of the season. The youngster picked the ball from the right wing, dribbled past three defenders before hitting the ball to the roof of the net.

However, Ingwe’s advantage lasted for 10 minutes as the mailmen under coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo levelled matters. Jackson Dwang finished off a great move in the 33rd minute to make it 1-1 at the half-time break.

Ugandan forward Samuel Ssenyonjo scored first goal for AFC

The second period started with AFC Leopards pushing to get the second goal, and it arrived in the 49th minute when Ugandan forward Samuel Ssenyonjo scored his first goal for the club following a cross from Madada.

However, AFC Leopards were not able to protect their lead as Posta Rangers levelled matters again this time Eliud Lokwam taking advantage of a defensive mistake to stab home from close range and make it 2-2.

AFC Leopards are now winless from their opening two matches having drawn their first game of the season 1-1 against Sofapaka. Meanwhile, in another fixture, Kakamega Homeboyz registered their first victory of the season after defeating Sofapaka 1-0.

Josphat Lopaga scored in the first half to give Homeboyz maximum points from the fixture.
